A unhappy former employee shared this in a review "Working at Protranslating is quite unstable job. Anyone can be layed off in any moment no matter seniority, capabilities, work accomplishments, etc. Very little compensation. No advancement at all. Management doesn't care about their employees or their work at all"

"I was selected to translate a large number of web-pages for ASOS. They make you put any other job aside and in the end the salary is so lousy you can not even pay your rent with it. Their invoicing process is extreme square and extremely cumbersome. And finely when your invoice is due they have thousand of excused for not paying you at all. Thank God I have my study grant alongside my translation work otherwise I would have been kicked out of my flat long time ago. My recommendation is: find a better company to work for and let them run out of translators. Cons: Everything"

The company opted to outsource their work instead of paying a fair wage to its employees. Fun while it lasted."

"Colleagues are nice and cooperative. If you need help, your colleagues are willing to be there for you. All the computer programs for handling jobs are available and up to date. The most difficult part is not being well trained right away, having to many times figure it out on your own which makes doing your job more challenging. Cons: unsuportive management"

"Definitely managed to learn a lot regarding project management. Unfortunately, it is also the most unprofessional company I have ever worked for. The management staff always talks behind each others back and the COO has literally screamed and cursed at employees. Particularly the women. The owner of the Company is also very rude and disrespectful. Cons: on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week"

"I worked at ProTranslating full-time for more than a year Cons: In terms of the interview process, everything was very chaotic. A person from their HR department contacted me to schedule and introductory call which we had to re-schedule 3 times - the first time she forgot about it and the other two she was busy. During the interview a different picture of the company was presented, including many opportunities of career advancement and personal development, which never came. The work itself is very basic in terms of project management and translation. The company’s clients are a lot of small companies that request small translations every now and then. This means that project managers and freelancers cannot engage with a client or account and work on quality and consistency. That is the main reason that clients usually complain about quality and request discounts, which are given to them without even asking for more details. The company works mostly with freelancers and has only few internal translators. Their freelancers agree on low rates and are usually pushed to lower them even more in order for the company to 1) increase their profit and 2) to have competitive rates against bigger translation agencies. Thus translation quality and consistency is usually affected, resulting in inability to deliver a good product to the client. Often freelancers complain that they are not getting paid and that they have to follow up Finance for months to send them their money. This creates a negative situation and untrusted environment where freelancers are not willing to work for the company unless they receive due payments. Management is divided in two categories, professional and unprofessional people. There are people who do not have people management skills at all and do not know how to handle situations or employees. I often had to deal with my manager’s mood swings, rudeness and impoliteness. The feedback I received was almost exclusively shared orally (never in an email) and I had the impression that a different version was shared with higher management. On top of the above, overtime was a given and no form of compensation was ever offered for your time and effort."

"I worked at ProTranslating Cons: Bureaucratic - new hires must fill in useless paperwork meant for US taxpayers Payment always late, payroll team blames other members of company for their incompetence and asks to fill in forms over and over again - payment system malfunctions and they have not updated this yet Choppy jobs - always requests translators to translate 40,50 words per week, which is not worth the time and effort to do Overall, I'm surprised this company has big clients like Chevrolet and Sephora. Not sure how they're handling this."

"I have been working at ProTranslating full-time Cons: Tenure at an organization can be a good thing but it also can work against a company. People are set in their ways and the historical way things have been done seems to be the only way they want to handle things. In other words, don't offer suggestions on improving anything since they won't listen. People are very slow in getting back to you which gets in the way of getting one's job done. Account management seems to be a foreign concept and proper, true, account management doesn't exist."

"I have been working at ProTranslating for less than a year Cons: 8 weeks after I have done their URGENT job I am still waiting to get paid. They have the most cumbersome and unclear and unapproachable invoicing system. They use their own shorthand and acronyms - I have no idea what I need to fill: which tabs, which papers. Tables, excel, forms - and their "How-To explanation" don't help at all."
